The service has been known for some years as "Infotrac", a name
created at Rensselaer before there was a commercial product by
that name. The name will soon change to "Infotrax" in order to
avoid confusion with this product.
Instructions:
1. telnet INFOTRAC.RPI.EDU
2. Once connected, you will be prompted for terminal type; enter ? for
a list of possible answers.
3. After entering your terminal type, you will get a banner, and a
request to type "return".

LIAS-TU is the on-line catalog of the University of Tulsa
Libraries. The catalog contains approximately 500,000 titles,
representing the holdings of McFarlin Library (the general
campus library) and the Law Library. Besides monographic and
serials records, LIAS also provides bibliographic access to the
curriculum collection, microforms, archives and manuscript
collections, and the MARC Books All database.
Instructions:
Telnet, preferably using VT100 emulation, BULL.UTULSA.EDU
(129.244.1.33) at the request for logon, type in upper case
letters: LIAS,TU. The user will then be requested to identify
their user category and hardware.
Now you can begin using the LIAS database. LIAS does not
differentiate between author, title, series, or subjects in its
command structure. Simply enter the words you wish to search.
The user can type HELP for more information on using LIAS. For
general reference material, type HELP COMMANDS. There is an
extensive HELP structure that can answer questions about the
system.

To logoff, type END.

PITTCAT is the University of Pittsburgh's online library
catalog. PITTCAT currently contains bibliographic information
for over 1.4 million titles in all University of Pittsburgh
libraries including the Hillman Library (humanities and social
sciences), Afro-American, Buhl (Social Work), East Asian,
Allegheny Observatory, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science,
Darlington Memorial, Engineering, Fine Arts, Langley, Library
and Information Science, Mathematics, Music, Physics, Public
and International Affairs/Economics, Falk Library of the Health
Sciences, Learning Resource Center (Nursing), Law, Western
Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, and the regional campus
libraries at Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown, and Titusville.
PITTCAT is based on NOTIS Systems, Inc. software and provides
author, title, subject and keyword access to all University of
Pittsburgh serial titles and to most books added to library
collections since 1981. Circulation and on-order status
information is available for some library locations in
PITTCAT.
PITTCAT can be accessed seven days a week the following (EST)
hours:

A menu of network services offered by the University of Pittsburgh will
appear. At the "Service:" prompt, type PITTCAT and press <RETURN>.
You will receive a "Select:" prompt, asking you to indicate the
type of terminal you are using (or emulating). Type the
appropriate response at the "Select:" prompt and press <RETURN>.
The PITTCAT Introductory screen will appear.
To exit from PITTCAT, hold down the <CTRL> key and press the
backslash "\". Your session will be disconnected. Exit from
telnet using locally established procedures.

LIAS is the on-line catalog of the Penn State libraries. The catalog
contains approximately 1.5 million titles, representing not only the
holdings at the main campus at University Park, but also the holdings
of the 20 Commonwealth campus libraries. Besides monographic and serial
records, LIAS also provides bibliographic access to parts of the
government documents collection; the maps collection; archives and
manuscript collections; and machine-readable datafiles available on
campus.

(128.118.25.13). No action is necessary until after the following

log onto this service. The NIH (National Institutes of Health)
Guide contains information on scientific initiatives and
administration regarding extramural programs. The guide is
being provided to Pitt on-line as a pilot project. Files are
available by anonymous FTP in the "nihguide" subdirectory. The
guide is published weekly, and information from the last 4
weeks will be online.

Searching Josiah:
The Josiah Search Menu supports searches by author, title,
subject, and author/title combinations. Help is available at
any point by pressing the PF1 key. PF key alternatives are also
supported by typing PF1 (or PF3, PF5, etc.) after any ">>"
prompt.
The direct command language is a modified form of the language
developed by the Western Library Network (WLN). Use of this
Josiah option requires familiarity with the WLN command
language. The direct command supports bibliographic file
searches by author, title, subject, series, isbn/issn, and
year of publication; authority file searches by author, subject,
and series; and call number browse. Boolean and keyword are also
available.
The menu searches are programmed to execute the command
language behind the scenes. Each menu search uses the text
typed on the menu screen as the search key for a direct
command. In addition, each menu search is programmed to try
alternate search strategies in order to locate bibliographic
records.
Logging off:
1. Press the PF10 key to display the Josiah logoff option and choose
the option from the menu
2. Press the PF3 key
